
Sweden’s national selection method continues tonight. The show will last 6 weeks – 5 Heats and a Final. During the four Heats, we will see the 30 acts but only 12 will make it to the final.
Final
The 12 finalists will try to win the prize of the festival and represent the country to the Eurovision Song Contest.
1. John Lundvik – Voice of the Silent
John Lundvik was born on January 27, 1983, in London, England. He was adopted when he was just 1 week old, by Swedish that lived in England. He has never met his biological parents. John lived in England till the age of 6, when he moved with his parents to Växjö, Sweden.
Before he succeeded in the music world, he was a sprinter. In 2005 he won a bronze medal in the Swedish Championship.
His musical breakthrough came in 2010 when he composed a song for the Swedish Royal Wedding. In 2016, he composed and performed the Swedish song for the Olympic Games in Rio. The same year, he also performed a duet alongside with Lill Lindfors (Sweden 1966, ESC presenter 1985) at Allsång På Skansen. All these years, he has written music for many artists including Sanna Nielsen (Sweden 2014). His writing talent doesn’t stop here. He has composed music for the well-known American TV series Empire too.
John debuted in Melodifestivalen – Sweden’s national final – in 2018 with the song “My Turn” and finished third in the final. In 2019, he won the whole event, receiving the most points by all the international juries. His song “Too Late For Love”, is of course co-composed by him. Except for the Swedish entry, John was also one of the composers of that year’s United Kingdom’s entry “Bigger Than Us.” At the contest, John placed 2nd in the jury voting and 5th after all with 334 points.
In 2020, John co-composed the French song for Eurovision, before the contest’s cancellation. The same year, he also won the Swedsih version of ”Let’s Dance”. Her first EP, titled “My Turn” was released in 2019. His latest Mello appearance was in 2022, when his song qualified directly for the final once again.
This year, he competed again qualifying directly to the final.
2. Dolly Style – YIHAA
The girl band Dolly Style is coming to Melfest for its fourth time. They have previously attempted in 2015, 2016 and most recently in 2017. It is noteworthy that none of the original members is still in the group.
Their participation this year managed to reach the second chance round, where they qualified for the final for the first time.
3. Greczula – Believe Me
Kristofer Niklas Greczula or better known as Greczula, was born on February 27, 1992 in Sweden. He is a singer and songwriter. He released his debut single in 2017. He has also participated in Allsång på Skansen in 2022. This year he made his debut in Melodifestivalen.
His first attempt was a success, qualifying for the final.
4. Klara Hammarström – On and On and On
Klara Lovisa Hammarström was born on April 20, 2000 in Stockholm, Sweden. She is a bronze European athlete in horse riding. Her family appeared at the television show “Familjen Hammarström”. More recently, she has focused on her musical career. In 2020, she debuted at Melodifestivalen with her song “Nobody”. Her entry didn’t reach the final and was eliminated in her semifinal. The following year, she competed again. Her entry “Beat Of Broken Hearts” this time reached the final and placed 6th. The song also managed to reach the 10th place in the Swedish charts. In 2022, she competed again in the national final with the song “Run To The Hills” and placed 6th.
This year, Klara managed to qualify directly to the final.
5. Scarlet – Sweet n’ Psycho
SCARLET is a Swedish heavy metal duo, which formed in 2018. The duo consists of Scarlet Hunts and Thirsty. They have released a number of singles, whilst their debut album was released in 2020. Last year, they debuted in Melodifestivalen with their song ”Circus X”. At the show, they reached the second chance round.
This year, the group qualify directly to the final.
6. Erik Segerstedt – Show Me What Love Is
Mats Erik Segerstedt or better known as simply Erik Segerstedt was born on April 20, 1983, in Uddevalla, Sweden. He is a singer and songwriter.
He rose to fame through his participation in the Swedish version of Idol in 2006, where he placed 3rd. He was also a part of the Swedish boy band E.M.D., which broke up in 2010.
He has participated twice in the national final. As part of E.M.D. he participated in 2009, where they played 3rd in the final. In 2013, he competed along with Tone Damli. That time he reached the second chance round.
His returned to the show was a success, winning his semifinal and reaching the final.
7. Maja Ivarsson – Kamikaze Life
Maja Ivarsson was born on October 2, 1979 in Kristianstad, Sweden. She a singer and a lead vocalist of the band the Sounds.
Her Melodifestialen debut was successful, qualifying directly to the final.
8. Meira Omar – Hush Hush
Meira Omar was born in June 17, 1993, in Sweden. She is a singer, releasing her debut in 2020. In 2024, she participated in the Swedish version of Love is Blind. This year, she debuted at the national selection.
She gained a ticket for the second chance, where she managed to get the last ticket for the final.
9. Måns Zelmerlöw – Revolution
Måns was born on 13th June 1986, in Lund, Sweden. His full name is Måns Petter Albert Sahlén Zelmerlöw. He became famous in his country, through his participation at the music show Idol, in 2005, where he finished fifth. The same year, he competed at the Swedish dance show Let’s Dance, where he won. In 2007, he competed for the first time in the Swedish national final with the song “Cara Mia”. He managed to qualify for the final and finished third. He competed again in 2009, with the song “Hope and Glory”, finishing 4th. In 2015, he returned with “Heroes”, this time not only won the national final but also Eurovision. Except for singer and songwriter, he is also a TV presenter. He has been the host of a variety of programs, more notably Melodifestivalen 2010, Eurovision 2016 and Eurovision: You Decide (2018-2019).
Måns returned this year to the Swedish national final and won his semifinal, gaining a spot to the final of the show.
10. Saga Ludvigsson – Hate You So MUCh
Saga Alice Ludvigsson was born on February 3, 2006, in Örby, Sweden. She is a singer and songwriter. In 2019, she competed in the Swedish version of Got Talent, where she reached the final. In 2023, she competed in the Swedish version of the Idol, where she placed 2nd. Throughout the years, she has released a couple of singles. This year, she debuted in Mello.
Her performance managed to give her a spot in the final.
11. Annika Wickihalder – Life Again
Annika Viktoria Wickihalder Pettersson a.k.a. Annika Wickihalder was born on January 25, 2001 in Switzerland. She is a Swiss-Swedish singer and songwriter. She rose to fame through her participation in the Swedish version of Idol, where she placed 3rd. Last year, she debuted in Melodifestivalen with her song ”Light”, placing 8th in the final.
Her second participation in the show, was also successful, qualifying directly to the final.
12. KAJ – Bara Bada Bastu
KAJ is a Swedish speaking Finnish group. The members are Kevin Holmström, Axel Åhman och Jakob Norrgård – the name of the band derives from the initials of their members. The group released its first album was released in 2012, whilst the most recent one came out in 2024. The group is known for singing in the Ostrobothnian Swedish dialect.
KAJ managed to qualify for the final.
