It’s official Sergey Lazarev will return to the Eurovision Song Contest. After many weeks of speculations, Russia 1, the Russian public broadcaster finally revealed that the singer will wave the Russian flag to Tel Aviv.
The singer represented Russia back in 2016, with the song “You’re the only one”, finishing first in the televote, but only third after all, behind Ukraine and Australia. The song, which will be revealed in a later date, is speculated once again to be produced by the Dream Team – P. Kirkorov, D. Kontopoulos – and the choreography will be by F. Evangelinos. This speculation is based on a recent post of Kontopoulos at his personal Instagram account.
Sergey will be the second artist that returns for Russia. Dima Bilan is the first (2006, 2008). Dima came second in Athens and then won in Belgrade at his second attempt. Will this be repeated in Lazarev’s case? Here you can remember Sergey’s previous Eurovision song:

Russia almost every time, since its debut, has been finishing at the top ten each year. Last year, sadly, Julia Samoylova didn’t manage to repeat this score, after failing to qualify her country in the final, for the first time. Here you can watch Julia’s attempt in 2018:
