Sweden’s national selection method continues tonight. The show will last 6 weeks – 4 Semifinals, 1 Second Chance (Andra Chansen) and the Final. At the four semi-finals, we will see 28 acts but only 12 will make it to the final (two from each semifinal and four from second chance).
Seven acts will try to win one of the two tickets for the Final. Those who will finish third and fourth they’ll have a Second Chance on 6th March.
- Anton Ewald – New Religion
Anton Ewald made his debut in Melodifestivalen in 2009 as dancer and in 2013 he competed again not only as a dancer but also as choreographer for second-placer Danny Saucedo and Andreas Lundstedt. In 2013, he made his singing debut at Melfest with the song “Begging” placing 4th at the final. In 2014, he competing again with “Natural” ending up at the 10th place.
- Julia Alfrida – Rich
Julia Alfrida released her first song in 2018 and a year after, she released her entry “HER”, which she sang at both Stockholm and Copenhagen Pride. In 2020, she participated in the Swedish radio music competition P4 Nästa. At the competition she was given a wild card to compete in Melodifestivalen. Her entry “Rich” is composed by her along with Jimmy Jansson and Melanie Wehbe.
- WAHL feat. SAMI – 90-talent
WAHL feat. SAMI is a duo that will debut on tonight’s semi. Their Swedish-language song is composed by Sami Rekik, Christopher Wahlberg, Josefin Glenmark, Jesper Welander and Andreas Larsson.
- Frida Green – The Silence
Frida Green is a young singer from Ystad, Sweden. She is known for reaching the final of the Swedish version of Got Talent in 2018. She will debut tonight at the music festival with the song “The Silence”, which is composed by Anna Bergendahl, Bobby Ljunggren, David Lindgren and Joy Deb.
- Eva Rydberg & Ewa Roos – Rena Rama Ding Dong
Eva Rydberg is a Swedish singer, actress and comedian. She is an established artist in her country and will compete for the second time in the national final after 1977. Ewa Roos is also a singer and songwriter. Her debut as a singer was at the age of 13, when she won a radio contest. Ewa Roos will make her debut in Melodifestivalen.
- Patrick Jean – Tears Run Dry
Patrick Jean is a Swedish singer and songwriter. He has compose songs for a number of artists including The Mamas, Mariette and Felix Jaehn. Is noteworthy, that he co-composed last year’s winning entry “Move”. As a singer he will make his debut on this edition of Mello. His latest EP was released last November.
- Dotter – Little Tot
Dotter is trying for the third time in the national final. She made her debut in 2018, with song “Cry”, but she was eliminated in the semis. In 2019, she released, along with Måns Zelmerlöw, the song “Walk With Me”. The song was also performed live at the second chance of Melodifestivalen, the same year. Last year, her song “Bulletproof” was among the fan-favourites. Despite that, she placed second with a margin of just one point!
