According to Swedish newspaper Aftonbladet will be some changes regarding the voting system of Melodifestivalen.
Back in October, it was announced that the Second chance round of Mello will be replaced by a 5th Semifinal. Now, another change was announced.
Semifinals
The voting procedure will continue to consist of two phases. At the first phase, the public will vote for its favourite entries. At the end of the voting, it will be announced the one act with the most votes. That act will directly qualify to the final. After that, the voting procedure will continue for the remaining 6 acts. At the end, the act with the most points will once again advance to the final, whilst the entries that placed 3rd and 4th will qualify for the 5th semifinal – former Andra Chansen. Moreover, like the previous years the Swedish audience will be able to vote through the Mello App. Originally, each device was given 5 points. This year, the audience will get 5 more points in the second phase of the show.
With that voting system, at the end of each semifinal will be able to know who placed 1st and 2nd. Furthermore, we will not watch a reprise of the qualify acts.
Final
At the final, the audience was given 5 points. This year, after the jury voting, the public will be given additional 5 points.
