Withdrawn Songs: Russia – 2017!

There are a number of songs that was selected to represent some countries in the contest, but for a variety of reasons the songs never made it to the Eurovision stage. In this series of posts we are going to remind you some of these songs.

Russia 2017

Russia in 2017 originally selected Julia Samoylova with “Flame Is Burning”. Ukraine, the 2017 hosting country, banned Julia to enter the country due to the ongoing Russian-Ukrainian dispute of Crimea. Julia had performed in Crimea and therefore she was unable to enter Ukraine. Russia decided not to send a new entry and withdrew from the contest. Julia represented Russia in the 2018 version of the contest.
